Community Pickup Project

It all started when…

One day while I was out working at various sites around Seattle, the amount of trash along the streets and in public areas really started to get to me. I thought to myself, “we live in such a beautiful part of the world. Why do we let it get so dirty? Someone should do something about it. How hard is it, after all, to bend over and pick up a piece of trash?”

And then I realized nothing gets done because most people wait for “someone” to do something without realizing or caring enough to be that someone. The Community Pickup Project is a volunteer effort to do just that, to connect people willing to be the “someone.”

We aim to take ownership of our community by showing it love and care by cleaning it up. Our efforts just might build stronger communities by bringing people together and maintaining cleaner, safer places to live.
